My life, being short,
Has taught
To laugh when I am said
And when the business’ bad –
Not to be weak
And make out of a sow’s ear purse of silk;
To dance when all the hopes
Have gone
Saying: “Now, it is Fun!”
I’d like to leave this burning in the flame
But we are all the actors in this game
Though I prefer
To be a director more.
